We want to wish everyone a happy holiday today, October 31st!  Not only is it Halloween, but also the main day of Diwali.  All of Argyle is celebrating!

TML Conference

Staff and Council attended the Texas Municipal League Conference in October.  Among the many sessions attended were: Water, Wind and Fire:  Disaster Preparedness;  Top 10 First Amendment Sources of Litigation for Cities;  Employment Law Updates;  and Practical AI for City Use - just to name a few.  Argyle joined more than 10,000 attendees from across Texas!

Mayoral Visits

Mayor Bradford was a celebrity at local elementary schools this month talking about  ... well... being Mayor!  He handed out VOTE bracelets to all the students and answered many (interesting!) questions.  Thank you to Argyle West Elementary and Hilltop Elementary for hosting Mayor Bradford!

Golden Agers Dine Local

Argyle's Golden Agers opted to dine local this October.  Lunch at Argyle's new restaurant, Little Joe's Farmstead, was the perfect mix of conversation and locally-sourced, delicious food! AISD's Council for the VATRE attended and explained it to everyone.  Huge thanks to the Reeds and team for an OUTSTANDING luncheon!  Next luncheon is Thursday, November 21 ... visit here to join the fun.

LuLu's Floral Design

Argyle welcomed it's second floral shop this month with a ribbon cutting celebration.  LuLu's Floral Design is located in the shopping center at Crawford Road and Hwy 377.   Featuring several rooms of gifts that are perfect for any occasion, the master florists keep ready-made bouquets on hand for those last-minute purchases we all make!

Cactus Canyon - Now OPEN!

Circle Star Brands' new Argyle restaurant, Cactus Canyon, is officially open!  Featuring Mexican cuisine and a top-notch interior, the restaurant includes a VIP area available for event rentals.

Arbor Day in Argyle = FREE TREES!

It's Argyle's favorite time of year:  Arbor Day!  Being a designated Tree City USA, Argyle not only has a Tree Ordinance but we also have reforestation funds used to maintain and increase our town's  tree canopy.  Pre-registered residents can pick up their free on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Argyle Town Hall between 10am - 1pm.

Tree Rebate Program

Continuing in 2024 is Argyle's Tree Rebate Program.  The program opened October 1 and offers rebates to Argyle residents and Homeowner Associations for the cost of newly planted trees. Information on the program and details for rebates can be found on the website here under Our Community.

Park Group Announced

At the October Town Council meeting, the resident group that will guide development of Argyle's newly purchased park acreage was announced.   The group members include:  Steve Shannon, Will Woods, Trish Cook, Michele Fitzhugh, Zac Sheer, David Ganoa, Christian Cockrell, John Ankeny, Jacob Fuller, Judy Davenport, Jerry Hamby, Emily Holt, Jim Reed, and Diane Weatherby. The park will be a trail park encompassing more than four acres.  It is located behind several businesses on Hwy 377 and stretches to The Oaks neighborhood.

In Public Works news....

The Public Works Department bid farewell to Mark Schaettel and welcomed a new team member, Bayland “Devyn” Healy. We thank Mark for his service and look forward to Devyn’s contributions.

The crew has been actively repairing heavy equipment to ensure it's ready for ongoing and future projects.

Street repairs were completed, including the replacement of a damaged street signs to enhance visibility and safety for drivers.

Diagnostics were performed at the 5T Lift Station to assess its performance, alongside routine maintenance on all four lift stations to ensure efficient operations.

Two Public Works employees attended Basic Wastewater training to strengthen their technical skills.

It's true!  Argyle Town Hall is lucky enough to receive an Angel Tree from UP Ministry this holiday season!  Drop by the lobby to choose the angel you want to bless this season.  Gifts are due back to Town Hall no later than Friday, Nov. 29th.

News from the Station...

Catching up with September's numbers... the police station has been very hard at work.  As our population increases, so do crimes.

  • Officers performed 421 traffic stops and responded to 348 calls for service or requests for close patrol between September 1-26
  • Arrests were made for DWI (x4), Construction Materials Theft, Unlawful possession of firearm and body armor by a felon, auto theft, evading arrest, warrants, and possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Female officers attended the Women of Law Enforcement conference along with over 400 other female law enforcement professionals from across Texas and beyond
  • Officers taught classes on criminal investigations, recruiting and hiring, crime scene procedures, and use of force to UNT students as part of the Student Police Academy.
  • Chief Jackson attended the Denton County Friends of the Family Handbags for Healing event as a guest handbag “model”.
  • Welcome to Argyle, Officer Hannah Decker!  She joined the police department in October.

Traffic Tip Thursday

Argyle's finest launched a weekly video series on Facebook this month.  Called "Traffic Tip Thursday" the series features clips with our local law enforcement.  Each week covers a different traffic tip important to Argyle residents.  

4th Annual Argyle PD Trunk or Treat

This year was the best yet for Argyle Police's Annual Trunk or Treat!  With more than 2,000 attendees and 50+ trunks, the parking lot was packed.  Not to be outdone, the "Best Trunk Award"  went to Argyle Water Supply. Their HUGE display was one for the record books!  Visit the link above to check it out!
